Stanley Tshabalala, 75, Passes Away
Orlando Pirates’ technical director, Stanley “Bra Stan” Tshabalala, has passed away at the age of 75.
Back in March, Tshabalala was shot by burglars who had broken into his house in Centurion, Gauteng.
On Thursday, 11 July, the Buccaneers released the following statement on their website:
“The Tshabalala and Orlando Pirates Family is [sic] announcing the sad and untimely passing of Stanley Tshabalala this afternoon in hospital. Bra Stan, as he was affectionately referred to by everybody, succumbed to the injuries he suffered when he was shot in March this year.”
Promising to furnish more “details in due course”, they also advised the public “to await the provision of the details for the [funeral] arrangements going forward.”
Tshabalala had a varied career in South African football, having played for and coached several clubs such as Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, where he was one of the founding members in 1970. He also played for Bafana Bafana, the national men’s football team.
Rest in peace, Bra Stan!
